The Defence Ministry has identified three opposition leaders to be behind the intrusion in Lahad Datu by a group of militants from southern Philippines, reports Bernama.

NONEIts minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said all information and details on these masterminds would be forwarded to the Attorney-General's Chambers for further action.

"What I can say is that two of the opposition leaders involved are from the peninsula and the other, from Sabah," he said at a news conference after his visit to the Royal Malaysian Air Force College in Alor Setar today.

Ahmad Zahid, however, did not reveal the names of the opposition leaders involved.

He said the government wanted to avoid certain parties from claiming it to be a political ploy by BN or political "sandiwara" (drama) by Umno, therefore, all action pertaining to the intrusion incident would be taken after the 13th general election.

"Legal action can only be taken after all the evidence have been gathered, and we have them," he added, according to Bernama.

Meanwhile, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak criticised the opposition for allegedly belittling the contributions of the security forces over the Lahad Datu incident.

Delivering his speech at the General Operations Force northern brigade at Hulu Kinta, Perak today, he slammed the opposition for allegedly saying the Lahad Datu intrusion was an Umno ploy.

Najib said that in other countries such as the United States, both the Democrats and Republican will stand together if there were a national security issue.

“But it’s different in our country, when the Lahad Datu and Semporna incidents happened, the political parties competing in the general election must come out with the same stand as in other countries, to show that we are practicing a mature democracy,” he said.
