Man with links to ‘Sulu sultan’ surrenders to cops

A man from Penang who heads an Islamic welfare group has surrendered to the police, over his links with a members of the Sulu sultanate’s family.
According to the police, Muhammad Ridwan was subsequently arrested under Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.
Speaking to reporters before turning himself in, Muhammad Ridhwan Sulaiman admitted that he did fund one Muedzul Lail Tan Kiram, who is among the claimants to the Sulu sultanate.
However, he denied any links with Jamalul Kiram III, who said he sent hundreds of armed men to Sabah to stake their historical claim of the state.
“I don’t know Jamalul Kiram,” said Muhammad Ridwan, according toBernama.
Yesterday, Sabah police chief Hamza Taib issued a statement requesting Muhammad Ridzwan to surrender immediately at the nearest police station.
Hamza clarified that Muhammad Ridzwan was not involved in the incursion into Sabah by men loyal to Jamalul Kiram, could help police in their investigation.
