SMS rumours still under probe – CP

State Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said investigations were
ongoing to identify those irresponsible for spreading the rumours via
SMS.Hamza reminded the public not to believe any rumours that could threaten the country’s security as the police are on top of the situation.
He said the situation was under control and the security forces and relevant parties were doing their best to resolve the issue without creating any untoward incident.
The SMS rumours claimed that riots would take place at three areas, namely Kota Kinabalu, Keningau and Lahad Datu at 1am on Feb 19, and were allegedly confirmed by a police personnel with the rank of sergeant from Cheras.
The police had immediately issued a statement in its
Facebook page denying such rumours and said that the situation in Sabah
was safe and under control and the public should not believe in any such
rumours.
